Program History
Touro University California (TUC) is the first University on the Pacific Coast to offer a diabetes fellowship. This program started in 2018 and takes one fellow per year. This is a 12-month fellowship generally beginning July 1 and completing June 30 the following year. It offers comprehensive training in diabetes in the primary care clinics along with focus on public health and community education. Fellows will have the opportunity to rotate at subspecialty clinics in pediatrics, podiatry, wound care, obstetrics and nephrology. Fellows are encouraged and supported in clinical research activity, presentations at national conferences and publications. They will participate in diabetes camp at Camp de Los Ninos to enhance their learning experience alongside people living with Type 1 diabetes.
